Boulder :::::::::::;

Subject: Re: Boodocking in Boulder?  Try the Fairgrounds in Longmont--that might be the Boulder County
Fairgrounds.   Try a small campground in
Lyons--about 15 miles from Boulder--it is just
past
Lyons on the way to Estes Park.
There is
Golden Gate or Golden Canyon State Park with Elect near  Nederland. It is a very nice campground with dump and water, but not a sites. There are quite a number of sites for big rigs. Highway 119 goes
from
Boulder to Nederland.

Denver::::::::

Campgrounds in the Denver area.

Does anyone know of a good campground/ RV park near Denver??

…………………………………….

When we were in the Denver area we stayed at Dakota Ridge RV Park. The
park is actually listed as in Golden, CO. in the Woodalls book. This is a
very nice park, here is the link
_http://www.essentialcoloradorv.com/dakota-ridge/_ (http://www.essentialcoloradorv.com/dakota-ridge/) . The sites
were mostly all pull through's, easy to get in and out.

…………………………………………

I'll also suggest Dakota Ridge. Convenient location, well-kept park.
The only negative is that the street out front is busy and noisy. Not
cheap!

………………………………………..

Unfortunately, there are NO inexpensive campgrounds in Denver.

………………………………………..

The only decent place I have found in the area is Cherry Creek State Park,
just a short distance from the Interstate. Great place but reservations are
strongly during summer months.

Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden

Another is Clear Creek RV Park, owned by the city of Golden, hard to get into, won't take reservations beyond the day you are arriving, call early. Really nice, right downtown, on the river (lots of activity to watch or partake in), quiet, very safe, well kept, walking distance to parks, shopping, restaurants, nightlife, etc. On the north end of Denver, there's St. Vrain State Park near Longmont, or the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. Depends on which side of Denver you want to be on/in. I've camped in all I've mentioned over the last couple of years. Beautiful camping where ever you end up. Just got back from there last night. - Tony

Durango:::::::::::

The Cottonwood RV park in Durango is walking distance to the train and
downtown, and is $37 per night. It has showers and restroom, and mud when
it rains. Not recommended unless you are going to be there for a short
time.  There is also a dump station in the park about 3 miles North of the Walmart, and potable water at the
Cenex station just South of the Walmart.

Ridgeway State Park

Location: Ridgeway, Colorado

Review:

We noticed how few, if any, Colorado entries there are, so we add this one. A four hour drive southwest from Denver, Ridgeway is ideally locatednear the Uncompagre Range of the San Juan Mountains and a short drive to neighboring Telluride to the southwest and Montrose to the north. Ouray and the Million Dollar Highway are a few miles directly south. We often head into Telluride (30-40 min), hop the town gondola (free) with our dog Hertz (there are designated "Pet Cars!"), walk the streets and the river run, and have an outdoor lunch.

There are several camping areas within Ridgeway, but Elk Ridge is our favorite: clean, paved, and partially wooded, with electric hookup sites. Showers, flush toilets. It towers a couple of hundred yards above the reservoir, with majestic views of the Uncompagre. There is a swim beach and marina a half mile away. Fishing for rainbows is excellent on or offshore. Several trails ribbon throughout the park.

If you get stay and enjoy it, please let us know.
