We spent 5 nights in
Palo Duro Canyon last November. We stayed in the
Mesquite campground all the way in the back of the park. By far the
best.
If you want to sit outside and have coffee in the morning try to
get campsite 90. It overlooks the very end of the canyon and the sun
comes up right there. Spectacular. We were in 92 which is just as
good. It has a little
rock hill to set up your chairs and you can see
both the sunrise and sunset and the changing rock colors.

We were not there when the show was running so we can't tell you about
that. The road down to the bottom of the canyon is easy. Going back up
is no big deal. Just go slow around the switchbacks in case someone is
coming the other direction.
